The Canadian North Master Executive Council (CNB MEC) of the Air Line Pilots Association, International is the governing body that represents approximately the 250 Canadian North pilots. The MEC and its committees work with ALPA’s professional staff work to protect and advance the careers of Canadian North pilots.
As the formal collective bargaining agent for Canadian North pilots, the MEC is charged with negotiating pilot contracts and promoting airline safety and security. ALPA’s motto, “Schedule with Safety,” guides the work we do every day. The initiatives of Canadian North ALPA volunteers have directly resulted in many of the safety features found in today’s modern aircraft and airports.
Every two years, the CNB MEC elects a slate of three officers (chair, vice chair, and secretary-treasurer), elected to serve their fellow pilots. The MEC officers, following the direction of the members, oversee MEC funds, establish MEC committees, appoint committee chairs, and give direction to the Negotiating Committee regarding bargaining.
